Sleeplessness…causes and prevention

Sleep is a very important activity of human body.It plays a very chief role in human metabolism.Sleeplessness means not able to fall asleep easily or not able to keep sleeping all night properly.Sleeplessness also termed as insomnia produces restlessness and keeps you tired all day .It affects your whole day routine too so we will focus on the factors which cause sleeplessness and later the methods and tips to get rid of it.

CAUSES

Stress:

Stress is one of the factors that causes sleeplessness. Stress due to workload ,some traumatic situation like divorce,death or illness of some close relative may contribute to affect sleep activity. Due to stress, the mind keeps thinking and don’t tend to rest so affecting sleep.

Sleeping schedule:

Irregular sleeping schedules,poor sleeping habits,taking naps throughout the day all tend to affect your sleep.If you go to sleep and wake up at different timings daily then you can’t sleep properly.If due to work load ,night shifts , traveling or due to other reasons,you are delaying your sleep time then you can’t have proper sleep cycles .So maintaining a regular sleep schedule is important to have a sound sleep .

Eating or drinking before bedtime:

If you eat heavily before bedtime,it’s difficult for you to sleep ;you feel something heavy is there in your stomach that prevents your sleep. Similarly drinking a lot of water makes you feel the same and you have to have frequent visits to the washroom so don’t drink or eat too much before going to bed.

Taking caffeine, nicotine etc:

Taking caffeinated drinks like tea,cola and coffee later in the day may affect your sleep at night.Taking tobacco and alcohol can also influence your sleep so avoid these things later in the evening to have a sound sleep.Additionally many medications like antidepressants,allergy and cold medicines also contain caffeine that may interfere your sleep.

PREVENTION

Adopting some habits can help you have a good sleep and can help preventing insomnia which are as under;

Go to bed and wakeup at fixed timings daily.

Avoid tea,coffee,cola , nicotine, alcohol later in the evening.

Check medications and ask doctor if they are interfering with your sleep .

Take exercise daily or keep yourself active throughout the day .

Avoid taking naps throughout the day.

Take shower before going to bed

Avoid pets or noisy things in the bedroom.

Maintain a peaceful atmosphere for sleep.Turn off all the lights. Use soft mattress for sleep.

Avoid tv ,work or mobile at night .

These are some of the tips which will help you have a peaceful and sound sleep throughout the night.

Game culture in kids

After the invention of smart phones, everybody seems to be glued to their phones be it 56 years old man or a 2.5 year old toddler. Everything seems to be on fingertips of inviduals whether you want to have chit chat with somebody who’s sitting abroad or you want to earn money sitting at home . Most of the individuals including kids using mobile phones are engaged in gaming .I am going to shed light on effects of mobile gaming on kids.

Less activity:


kids involved in gaming keep sitting ,don’t move here n there,are not involved in other activities so they become lethargic n lazy .It is proven by studies that if someone spends hours in stationary position ,there is a risk of a condition named deep vain thrombosis. So to avoid this the parents should force their kids to have gaps and involve in other activities.

Game addiction:

World health organization referred gaming as addictive because there is a factor of repeat play when you fail so kids persue gaming with more enjoyment in comparison to other games .It has also been reported that if a kid is constantly playing game and is not into other activities for 12 months so tenth part of dopamine may release in him which is produced when individuals use addictive chemicals like alcohol,drugs etc .So it is strictly adviced to parents to limit the screen time and engage kids in other activities like coloring,making puzzles .

Violent behavior:

There happen to be many news narrating kids violent actions because of violent games played by them . Although there is no relation between violent behavior shown by kids and violent games, shown by many studies but to be on safe side parents must check first PEGI ratings of the mobile game their children are going to play.

Online interaction:

Kids playing games may interact with many other individuals through chat and interaction within community .They may interact strangers and may experience bullying .Many cases have been reported that chat started because of games and the girl ran away so to avoid this the parents must check PEGI ratings or should allow them to play in offline mode.

Although mobile games have many disadvantages but if we as parents keep a check on kids and keep examining the games they are playing ,we can give kids a way to explore themselves in a culture where they can make new friends and comeup with new talents and achievements.
